Ultimate Airplane Daiquiri
The drink recipe below is from a great little book we found on improvising drinks when you are traveling (in the middle of a flight, for example). The book is called "Road Soda: Recipes and techniques for making great drinks anywhere" by Kara Newman. It lays out tips and techniques for MacGyvering cocktails when you're away from your bar or kitchen, like this list of things to pack for mixology:

And here is a recipe for the airplane daiquiri:
"Ultimate Airplane Daiquiri
When NYC-based bar owner Julie Reiner is spotted making daiquiris, everyone notices. But she particularly got the cocktail cognoscenti's attention when she shared on social media a pic of a perfect daiquiri - right down to the square Kold-Draft ice cubes favored by mixologists - made in-flight on the way to a family vacation in Hawaii.
Reiner explained how she achieved a pro-level daiquiri without leaving her seat. Her secret weapon is an insulated food bag, which helps the ingredients weather the ten-hour flight from New York to Hawaii. "I put in a bag of Kold-Draft ice, along with some of those freezer packs. I cut a bunch of limes in half and put those in, along with a bag of superfine white sugar. For tools, I had a jigger, bar spoon, strainer, hand juicer, and tin-on-tin shaker."
Assuming that you aren't a cocktail overachiever, in this adaptation of Reiner's recipe I've called for lime juice and simple syrup. You can combine the two in a travel-size container and still squeak through airport security.
>> 4 ounces rum
>> 1.5 ounces lime juice
>> 1.5 ounces simple syrup
>> 2 lime wedges, for garnish
(Makes 2)
Fill a large plastic cup halfway with ice, then add the rum, lime juice, and simple syrup. Stir until chilled, then strain into two cups over fresh ice (use an extra cup or cutlery to hold back the ice). Garnish with a lime wedge on the rim of each cup.
Pack It or Procure It
>> 1.5 ounces of lime juice
>> 1.5 ounces of simple syrup
>> Large plastic cup
>> Jigger
>> Collapsible mixing spoon or plastic spoon
Buy It On Board
>> 3 mini bottles (50 ml each) of white rum (you'll have a bit left over)
Ask For It
>> A full cup of ice
>> 3 extra cups
>> 2 lime wedges"
(from "Road Soda: Recipes and techniques for making great drinks anywhere" by Kara Newman).
