How to Make Mexican Coffee and Whipped Coffee
Mexican coffee is a delicious combo of roasted coffee, chocolate, and cinnamon. Some coffee shops offer some version of Mexican coffee or a Mexican mocha, so you may have already experienced this spicy sweet coffee delight. We'll brew the cinnamon in with the coffee grounds to infuse it with cinnamon flavor. To make mexican coffee, you'll need a small saucepan and, naturally, a coffee pot. You'll also want to gather up the following ingredients:
- ground coffee (3/4 cup) - heavy cream (1/2 cup) - whole milk (1/2 cup) - cold filtered water (5 cups) - chocolate syrup or chocolate sauce (1/3 cup) - vanilla extract (1 teaspoon) - brown sugar (2 tablespoons) - ground cinnamon (2 teaspoons) - top with whipped cream, chocolate shavings, and more cinnamon Add the coffee grounds as well as the 2 teaspoons of cinnamon to your coffee filter and place in the filter basket. Add the water to the coffee pot and brew as normal. |
As the coffee is brewing, add the heavy cream, milk, brown sugar, and chocolate syrup to your small saucepan. Mix everything up, place the saucepan on low heat, and bring everything to a simmer. Take off the heat once your coffee brews and add it to the saucepan, then whisk in the vanilla extract.
This should give you about 4 servings of coffee, so add to 4 coffee cups and top with cinnamon, whipped cream, chocolate shavings, cinnamon sticks, or whatever else you want.
If you want to spice things up even more, add a dash of cayenne pepper (careful how much you add, though).
For another delicious coffee variation, try this whipped coffee recipe. Whipped coffee was made famous again on TikTok. You'll use instant coffee, water, and sugar to create the whipped coffee portion then add milk. You can pour over ice for the summer months, or heat up the milk and serve during colder months. Truly a versatile, delicious coffee drink.
The ingredient list is very short. You'll want to have:
- instant coffee (3 tablespoons)
- hot water (3 tablespoons)
- whole milk (1.25 cups)
- granulated sugar (3 tablespoons)
- vanilla extract (half teaspoon)
Using a large liquid measuring cup, add the sugar, hot water, and instant coffee. Use an electric mixer or hand mixer to whip (use one beater attachment so that it fits in the measuring cup). It'll take about 6 minutes of whipping, and you're looking for things to become fluffy with a lighter color. Add the vanilla extract and whisk.
Have two glasses ready with ice and add an equal amount of the milk to each glass. Add an equal amount of the whipped coffee on top of the milk in each glass. Your whipped coffee is ready to go!
Remember that you'll want to use instant coffee and not regular brewed coffee, which is more difficult to whip. There are a lot of options for how to whip the ingredients together, not just a hand mixer, so use whatever you feel most comfortable with. You can even just whisk it manually.
Experiment with adding ingredients like cinnamon, caramel sauce, chocolate sauce, etc. Go nuts.
If you want to have a warm drink heat up the milk instead of pouring the milk over ice and add the whipped coffee on top as before.
