The ingredients you'll need are: Cake: - all purpose flour (2.5 cups) - unsweet cocoa powder (quarter cup) - baking soda (1 teaspoon) - salt (1 teaspoon) - vegetable oil (half cup) - unsalted butter (half cup) - granulated sugar (2 cups) - large eggs (2) - vanilla extract (1 tablespoon) - white vinegar (1 teaspoon) - red food coloring (1 ounce bottle) - buttermilk (1 cup) Icing: - powdered sugar (2 cups) - softened cream cheese (4 ounces) - vanilla extract (half teaspoon) - milk (quarter cup) |
Start by preheating the oven to 350 degrees. Take your bundt cake pan and grease and flour it. Now take a large bowl and add the cocoa powder, flour, salt, and baking soda. Mix this together and set to the side for the moment.
Whisk the melted butter, oil, and sugar in a stand mixer bowl. Then add your vanilla extract, eggs, food coloring, and vinegar. Mix everything together.
Starting with the flour, add some of the flour, then some of the buttermilk, then some of the flour again, etc., mixing as you go until you've used all your flour and buttermilk.
Pour this batter into your bundt cake pan. Now place in the oven and bake until it passes the toothpick test. You're aiming for about 50 minutes. Take out of the oven and let everything cool for about 10 minutes, then turn the pan upside down over a wire rack to remove the cake. Let it cool the rest of the way on the wire rack.
Onto the icing. Once the cake is cool, you can move on to this step. Have a large bowl ready and add the cream cheese, powdered sugar, and vanilla extract. Mix everything together. Then add the milk a tablespoon at a time. Once it hits the consistency you want you can ice the bundt cake. You're done!

- unsalted butter, melted (1 cup)
- granulated sugar (1.25 cups)
- brown sugar (1 cup)
- all-purpose flour (1 cup)
- unsweet cocoa powder (2/3 cup)
- coconut oil (2 tablespoons)
- vanilla extract (1 tablespoon)
- white vinegar (1 teaspoon)
- red food color (2 teaspoons)
- kosher salt (1 teaspoon)
Get the ingredients together in the right amounts and preheat the oven to 350 degrees. Grease a baking pan with cooking spray or butter.
Take a large bowl and combine the coconut oil, melted butter, and sugar. Whisk everything together to mix. Now add your vanilla, vinegar, eggs, and food coloring. Whisk this in as well. It should have a red color with everything well mixed together.
Make sure you have a sifter and sift in the cocoa powder, flour, and salt, into the butter mix. You'll want to fold in the dry ingredients and mix enough to break up the flour without overmixing.
Now that you have your batter, pour it into your pan and smooth everything over with a spatula. Bake for 25-30 minutes at 350. One way to tell it's baked enough is if the center doesn't jiggle/is firmed up. Take the pan out of the oven and let everything cool for about 20 minutes before serving. Enjoy!
